Facial contouring

Lights and shadows, reimagined.

Skilled makeup artists know that facial aesthetics often boils down to light and shadows. While the ideal look is often subjective, a fuller upper cheek, followed by a shadow and highlighted jawline creates the desired ogee curve associated with a youthful, sculpted appearance.

We often perform buccal fat removal to provide more definition to the cheek and thin out the area below the cheek. Lower facial liposuction can also be performed to contour the lower face using small incisions below the earlobe. To reduce fullness in the lower neck, we offer minimally invasive options like liposuction or more dramatic results through a neck lift.

Whether it’s one or a combination of the above procedures, we can offer a plethora of options to get you the contour of your dreams.

Frequently Asked Questions

Facial contouring typically involves one or more procedures that are performed with the aim of creating a more aesthetically pleasing facial silhouette. It often involves liposuction to the lower third of the face as well as buccal fat removal and a neck lift. Occasionally, this can also involve facial implants and non-surgical procedures like Botox or filler injections. What is ultimately performed depends on a frank conversation between you and your surgeon regarding your aesthetic goals and your particular anatomy. This is not one size fits all.

General anesthesia is rarely required for this type of procedure. However, most patients do opt to do this under sedation for their own comfort. It can also be done under local anesthesia with some numbing medicine injected locally in the office. It all depends on what is being performed and your preferences.

You will have minimal swelling after surgery that will typically resolve within a week. However, oftentimes, the full effect of surgery won’t be seen until several months postoperatively as the tissues continue to shrink down into their final position.

Typically, if your primary issue is sagging skin in the lower face, facial contouring would not be the best option for you. Instead, a face and/or neck lift would be more optimal. That would be the only way to adequately address the skin in this area. Your final surgical plan will be discussed in more detail during your consultation.

No. The incisions performed for lower facial liposuction are made immediately below your earlobes on both sides and they are about a few millimeters long. They typically only require one stitch to close.
